The last Nizam of Hyderabad was considered to be one of the richest people in the world at the time of his death. It is said that he had a diamond worth £ 50 million, which he used as a paper weight! Can you imagine the opulence of his palaces?
Visit his various palaces including Chowmahalla and Falaknuma. The Golconda fort son et lumiere programme traces the history of the rulers of this state. We move next to Bangalore and see the Bangalore Palace, the huge Vidhan sauda (though technically was never a palace of a Maharaja) is made in that sytle though. Hampi, built in the 14th. Century, was the capital of the mighty Vijayanagara empire. It is a MUST SEE to understand the enormity of the buildings in those times. Finally visit Mysore - once ruled by Tipu Sultan and the palace of the wealthy Wodiyars, All roads here lead to the Mysore Palace. An ode to magnificience, the palace is a marvel of ornate ceilings, jewelled corridors, open mandaps, stain glass windows, beautiful paintings and of course the jeweled throne.
