The Indian sub continent is well known for its diversity in wildlife. The foothills of the Himalayas – The Terrai is home to a large variety of flora and fauna. However, the pride of these thick forests is of course the Royal Bengal Tiger. Project Tiger was set up to create biospheres across India to preserve this magnificent animal. Today India is home to 48 such special sanctuaries out of a total of 515 across India.  

 

Apart from these demarcated wildlife areas, the Western Ghats, and the Eastern Himalayan range are very rich biospheres in Asia. Thus, is it any wonder that India is home to many unique species? Where else on this planet can you take a safari and find three big cats in their natural habitat - The Asiatic Lion, Indian Leopard and the Royal Bengal Tiger ?
